Seniors at UT: Here’s Your Bucket List

Alright, you have made it to senior year at UT. Congrats.

Knoxville is a special, special place with so much to experience. Each year I was at UT, I learned about new places to go and things to get involved with on campus.

For starters, I did not even know how great the Farmer’s Market (in Market Square) was until my junior year. Or how many beautiful trails there were to hike. Or that the Old City was even a place. Talk about time wasted.

During my senior year, I made it my goal to try to experience as much of Knoxville as I possibly could. I was pretty successful with that, so I want to share some last-minute things you seniors need to know about.

Groovin’ Around the Old City

First, I just want to say that I absolutely love my internship. I have had the great pleasure of interning at Dogwood Arts this semester, working specifically on the Rhythm N’ Blooms Music Festival that happens every year in Knoxville, Tennessee. Also, it is a ton of fun working with one of my good friends, Elizabeth Reyes, who I actually met at Rhythm N’ Blooms in 2015.

There is so much that goes into the production of a music festival. Ultimately, we had around 12,500 people in attendance over the course of the weekend, and it was a complete blast! There were new additions, sponsors and changes to the festival this year, and it was really great to see everything come together. Two of my favorite changes were that the festival was presented by Yee-Haw Brewing Company and that there was astroturf to sit on by the main stage.

Such a tender moment captured by the lovely, Jodie Bailey.
