Memphis Has a Music Festival in October?

YES. Memphis has a music festival in October, and it is the Moon River Music Festival.

It is from October 7-9, and it will take place at the beautiful, outdoor venue: The Levitt Shell (in Overton Park).

Presented by Drew Holcomb and supported by the Memphis community, this festival has evolved and grown throughout the years.

For the past two years, this music festival has been a single-day event. However, due to the overwhelming support from the community, this festival will now last two days this year: Saturday and Sunday (with a VIP option for Friday night).

24 Hours in Nashville, TN

According to the Nashville Metropolitan Planning Organization, “[a]cross the 10-county Cumberland Region around Nashville, the MPO forecasts close to another million people by the year 2035.”

That statistic does not come as much of a surprise to me. Nashville just has a funky charm that welcomes all different kinds of people… Including but not limited to aspiring country music artists, as some might think.

Now, I lived in Memphis for 18 years of my life before moving to Knoxville for the most recent 4 years of my life. However, Nashville, TN has always had a way of making me feel like I am coming home whenever I visit.

Maybe it is because some of my closest friends live there or maybe it is because I have driven through countless times to and from UT… Either way, most people who have taken the time to explore Nashville would more than likely empathize with this feeling.

When I thought about highlighting a few of my favorite places to go to in Nashville, I got overwhelmed simply because there are so many things to do, see, experience and love.

My mom and I recently took the short, three-hour road trip so I could show her around this magical city. Since we only stayed there for one night, I had to consolidate the list of things to do.

If you are looking for a simple guide to experience an exciting day in the Nashville area, I got you covered.

Sweet Tennessee [Tunes]

Theobald Tunes is coming at you a day late due to Christmas.

I figured I would wait until all of you had your new Beats By Dre to listen to my playlist for the week. Wait… Those are still relevant, right?

Anyway, I have recently been reminiscing on concerts I have attended in the past since I have not been to a live concert since The Avett Brothers on Dec. 5, 2015. (Click HERE to read my blog post about that experience.)

One of the best concerts I went to over the past year and a half was Cereus Bright and Judah & the Lion. This concert was filled with contagious positivity. Both bands were extremely high energy and attentive to the crowd.

I originally bought tickets to see Judah & the Lion, because Cereus Bright was opening for them. At the time, I had just seen Cereus Bright about a week or so before in Knoxville, Tennessee and was in groupie mode. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Judah & the Lion was equally amazing.

The performance was at the Hi-Tone Cafe in Memphis, Tennessee. Considering I am from Memphis, I figured this would be the perfect time to take a trip home & to explore a venue I had never been to before. This venue was really different to me. I liked the intimacy it offered to the audience in connection to the artists. It felt small but not in a claustrophobic way –  more in a “I actually have a chance of meeting these guys” kind of way. Continue reading “Sweet Tennessee [Tunes]”

Is It Too Late Now To Say Sorry?

“Yeah, I know oh-oh that I let you down…

Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?”

Okay. No. Surprisingly, this post is not going to be about Justin Bieber’s new song, “Sorry.” (Although, I have to admit I’m a fan.)

In last Friday’s post, I talked about how I was going to be posting every Friday about music I had been listening to throughout the week. I am sorry to say I did not get a chance to post yesterday (Friday, Nov. 27). BUT, not to fret! I am only posting today.

I came home to the lovely city of Memphis, Tennessee (for the first time since July) this past Wednesday for Thanksgiving break. Since I knew my parents and I would be traveling down to Mississippi to visit my big, redneck family, I thought I might as well make this week’s playlist full of some tunes that my parents would enjoy, too.

Here are some oldie goldies for you guys. Enjoy.
